The Hart Spa

Nestled in the back of the Coppice Garden Centre in Middleton, the Hart Spa is possibly one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been. Neutral, Scandinavian decoration, calming music and the gorgeous smell of Monique Hart’s unique aromatherapy products greets you when you arrive. The staff are lovely, and so attentive; and there is a wide range of indulgent treatments on offer.

All around the spa, Monique Hart candles are burning, and the natural melted oils are used in all the treatments there. Monique developed her Bleeding Hart Essence in a time of personal stress, and uses it in her products to aid sleep and relaxation. The range has now expanded to include two scents for different times of day – Joie de Vie for daytime rejuvenation and Bonne Nuit for winding down in the evening.

I found myself at the Hart Spa on recommendation from a friend. I have struggled with adult acne for a couple of years, and found it difficult to control my skin. My friend recommended microdermabrasion from Clare at the Hart Spa, and I’ve not looked back.

Microdermabrasion is a gentle form of mechanical exfoliation, which removes dead skin cells from the face, neck and décolletage. Fine crystals are fired through a machine, and vacuumed back up from the face, removing blockages from the pores. This gentle treatment is good for reducing fine lines and minor skin blemishes – but also promotes skin renewal and reduces hyperpigmentation caused by break outs.

It’s not painful at all, but sometimes skin can be a little red after the treatment. The Hart Spa use a soothing face masque after the microdermabrasion to prevent this.

Since having regular microdermabrasion my skin has been much more manageable; having dead skin cells removed from my face helps to prevent my pores becoming clogged and breaking out. The therapists at the spa have also advised me on what kind of skincare I need to use to prevent break outs.

At 26 years old, I don’t have too many fine lines yet. That being said, as an expressive talker, I definitely do have some forehead wrinkles starting to appear! These have been almost completely eliminated by having microdermabrasion and using a gentle retinoid night cream.

And as we always say in clinic; it’s better to treat before it becomes a problem!
