Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

With the pressures on the healthcare system growing more apparent year on year, many patients choose to go to private clinics after surgery to help them to recuperate. Our practitioners commonly help patients to recovery after hip or knee replacement surgery, as well as after surgical repairs of tendons or muscle tears (hamstring, calf or Achilles, rotator cuff, bicep or pectoral)

Post Operative Recovery

Our practitioners are adept at helping post-surgical patients to build back their range of movement and recover their strength. It’s important to take these steps in a considered way, in order to build on the good work of your surgeon and respect your body while you heal. We can start working with patients just a few days or weeks after surgery, depending on their procedure and what your surgeon and therapist consider to be appropriate.

In both our clinics we have access to exercise equipment to aid your recovery, and in Sutton Coldfield we have the added advantage of our own fantastically appointed fitness and rehabilitation studio space to really make the most of your recovery time.

Moving forward, we have Physiotherapist led classes for mat Pilates, Recovery classes and small group training options to keep building on your health and fitness well beyond your initial rehabilitation.

Scar Therapy

Scar Therapy can help the appearance and function of surgical scars, reducing tissue adhesions and helping you get back to using the affected area. The scars that remain after hip or knee replacement can be softened, and help reduce post-procedure swelling, restoring function.

Scar Therapy is also a great option for women after gynaecological surgeries, such as caesarean sections or hysterectomies. Local nerve changes, sensitivity and pain can remain, even many years after pelvic or abdominal surgery, and a scar therapy approach may be useful in these cases. Additionally, abdominal overhang above hysterectomy or C section scars can be improved, as the scar tissue and associated adhesions are softened by treatment.
