Creating bespoke insoles

Phits orthotics use industry-leading technology to create bespoke insoles for patients with foot, ankle, or leg dysfunctions, and optimise the movement of their feet.

Assessment

Our practitioners have undergone biomechanical training. This ensures they understand how best to support their patient’s feet with Phits insoles, whether that person is a young athlete, or someone struggling with the pain of osteoarthritic changes in their feet. It’s estimated that 80% of us will experience a foot-related issue in our lifetime, and it’s our belief that an insole solution should be as unique as the person it has been designed for.

Phits insoles use a unique scanning plate to assess a patient’s feet in both standing and walking, to get a truly quantitative measure of the strength and direction of forces involved. Many other bespoke insoles will be made from a singular static mould of the foot, but Phits assess the feet in active movement, so that your gait can be perfectly supported in every phase of foot movement. We take the impression of multiple footprints to compile a median average foot pattern, from which we will design the perfect orthotic insoles.
Design approach​

Establishing your support needs

Once your practitioner has established your support needs, they will design your insole. They have a vast database of thousands of other patient scans to cross-compare, and an established algorithm of success stories from which to seek inspiration. Ultimately though, your insoles are designed to be unique to your footscan results, and to give you symptom relief.

Manufacture & Fitting

Your insole design will then be sent to the 3D printing lab to be manufactured. The base of the insoles will be created using 3D printed plastic, giving them an incredibly hard-wearing base, which will last for many years. The top of the insoles are finished with the finest technical materials available, some of which are only available in insoles made by Phits. One such material is the revolutionary technical material D30, which offers both soft cushioning and force-dissipating, dynamic support with it’s unique force-absorbing technology.
Once your Phits have been made, they will be dispatched by recorded delivery to your practitioner at the clinic. They will then call you and ask you to attend a fitting appointment. To this appointment, please bring your most commonly worn shoes, or the shoes you intend to use the Phits in, such as your running shoes, track spikes, or football boots. Your practitioner will then check the fit and feel of the insoles, before giving you all the necessary care instructions. They will call you after a couple of weeks to check you’re getting on well with your new orthotic appliances.
Athletic Application

Tailored to fit insoles

There is also great evidence for the application of Phits insoles for athletes. The insoles can be tailored to fit many different kinds of sporting footwear – running shoes, track spikes, rugby and football boots, cycling cleats, riding boots, or ski boots can all be accommodated. Phits are the best bespoke orthotics on the market, because of their technical materials and precise measuring technology. We want our insole designs to be supported with as much technical and scientific backing as possible, and using the Phits system allows us to compare gait scans from our patients against thousands of other foot-scans, to ensure we make insoles that work for you.

Once your foot-scan has been taken, and your practitioner has created your bespoke insole design, they will submit their plan to the 3D printing facility where your unique insoles will be made. This can take around 2 weeks, whereupon your newly made insoles will be delivered back to clinic. Our team will then call you to book in a fitting appointment, where your practitioner will help fit the insoles into your shoes, and give you any additional instructions on how best to start using them.

Not everyone is able to find the perfect running shoe for their gait, and runners with repeated foot, ankle, or lower leg injuries may find a pair of phits insoles make the greatest difference to them.
