Sunday has always been my favourite day of the week – as they say “A Sunday well spent brings a week of content”
I don’t have much time off work, so I find planning my days off helps me to enjoy them more. This is my recipe for a Sunday Well Spent.
- Low Intensity Workout
The best way to start a Sunday is with a low intensity recovery work out. In the past, this would mean yoga for me, but now it means a long, muddy dog walk! Exercise and spending time outdoors are both great for your mental health, so this is a double-hitter!
- Planning Meals and Exercise for the week ahead
I try very hard, and fail on the meal prep most weeks, but I always manage to plan my work outs. I love Pilates Lounge on the MINDbody app – as I can schedule classes in advance of the week.
If you make a work out like a meeting in your diary, you’re much more likely to stick to it!
- Planning work commitments
Sunday is my day for making sure I have everything I need going forward into the week. I like to make sure I have my blog and social media posts prepared and edited. I reply to any languishing emails and make a list of the things I was to accomplish for the running of the clinic over the next 7 days.
- Eating
Sunday is a day for treats. (I would like every day to be a day for treats, but…) Having a little extra time means I can enjoy cooking. Today I’m catching up with two of my lovely university friends and fellow osteopaths, Sophie and Callum, over a slow cooked beef ragu at home.
- Home Spa
The best part of my Sunday ritual – once all my preparations have been done, it’s time for a face mask and reading a book in the bath! Spending an evening away from the glare of a screen makes sure you get a great nights’ sleep and hit Monday at full speed!
