Dry January is the term coined for giving up alcohol for the month of January, and has been adopted by many as a way to detox after a heavy party season over Christmas and New Year.

Most people doing dry January slept better, had more energy, and saved money over the course of the month. Shockingly, the Dry January website states that the average person will spend around £50,000 on alcohol in their lifetime!! So there are many benefits to giving up alcohol, even if it’s just for a short while!

Statistically people who give up drinking in January also make commitments to health and fitness in other parts of their lives – healthier eating, more likely to engage in exercise. So while it might be tempting to call them a bore, those taking part in Dry January might be on to a winner!
